Are you giving a "foothold" to the devil? Eph 4:27 What are strongholds of the mind?

There is no nominal Christianity as Paul wrote. When we have Sin running a muck and not dealt with through the power of the Spirit it can be exploited by satan and dark influences. We must resist the devil and his influences as he works through our flesh and worldly pleasures, and relinquish control of our lives to the powers of darkness.

Definition Foothold: a secure position from which further progress may be made.

When we give into temptations we not only confirm that the flesh is weak but we are also giving control over to the devil and/or demons.

The devil /demons seek to gain ground or a "foothold" in the believers life but it can only be to the extent that we allow them and when we do this is called "Giving ground". 3 key areas that satan tries to gain ground in the believers life is Sin..Passivity.. and Fear.

If we cultivate any known pet Sin in our life we are at that point allowing satan to take control and take over which Paul clearly warns us against this in Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

Strongholds are mental patterns of thoughts burned in our mind over a period of time or through traumatic experiences. They are revealed by un-christian behaviors and temperaments often unrecognized and seldom understood as choices. A stronghold is a mindset often seen as hopeless and unchangeable yet something that is completely against the will of God.

The pattern for breaking these strongholds can be found in 2 Chronicles 7:14. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
